Navigating Housing and Homelessness Support

On Monday 17 August, Skyler, Ata, Rob and Marti from our Housing Support Service attended the Navigating Housing and Homelessness Support in 2026 Professional Development Day at Ceramco Park in Glen Eden.

The day was hosted by Housing Call to Action (West Auckland) – a network of community, social service, NGO and government services with a shared interest in housing and homelessness. They brought together people working across the housing and homelessness sector and provided an opportunity to learn from a range of organisations and services.

The workshops covered a variety of topics relevant to our work, including homelessness support, hoarding, family harm, sustaining tenancies, and navigating MSD and Kāinga Ora services. There was also a valuable opportunity to network with others working in the sector and gain a broader understanding of the challenges and supports available to people experiencing housing insecurity.

Lunch was a particularly special part of the day and reflected the strong sense of community within the sector. The organising committee each prepared a soup to share, with additional food generously donated for the event. Attendees were also invited to bring a donation for the local Pātaka Kai, allowing the day to support the wider community as well as those attending.

It was a great day of learning, sharing knowledge and strengthening connections across the housing and homelessness sector.
