At Equip, we believe mental health deserves the spotlight every week. Belonging is something we can all help nurture, so this collection shines a light on the 2026 MHAW theme: Belonging Matters.

Weeks like Mental Health Awareness Week open doors to learning, break down stigma, and inspire us all to care for our own wellbeing and that of others.

In Aotearoa, belonging is a key part of wellbeing and is shown in Te Whare Tapa Wha, which uses the idea of a whare (house) to describe balance in wellness. Whenua is the foundation of the whare. It stands for your roots, your connection to ancestors (tīpuna), and a strong sense of belonging to a place. Knowing where you belong, both geographically and historically, supports your overall wellbeing.

Taha Whānau is another wall of the whare that shapes your ability to belong, care for others, and connect with a wider group. Here, whānau means more than just close family. It also includes friends (hoa), colleagues (hoa mahi), and chosen communities where you feel known, supported, and valued.

Belonging, you see, is a fundamental human need that supports stronger wellbeing and brighter mental health outcomes, especially for those navigating mental health challenges.

Take what resonates with you from our collection, and pass along anything that could lift up your community.

Mauri ora.
