Older Adults Community Support Worker

If you enjoy working with people, helping them regain the skills and confidence to lead a fulfilled life, and you’re practical as well as empathetic, you could be a Community Support Worker for Equip, one of Auckland’s leading Mental Health organisations. Previous experience preferred, but not essential.

This position is for 40 hours per week. You’ll work autonomously with older adults with mental health issues, living in the wider Auckland area. The Equip head office is on the North Shore which is where your work day starts and finishes. The work entails helping service users reach identified goals and maximise strengths.

You will need a genuine passion to work with people, be a good listener and communicator. You will have a ‘can do’ attitude.

Qualifications, Training and Support

You don’t need qualifications or experience working in this field. We will train and support you.

You’ll receive a thorough induction and on-going training. Equip will support you to commence relevant training (Certificate in Mental Health and Addictions Support), or you will have completed this already. Higher level relevant qualifications negate this need. 

WHAT WILL I NEED

  • NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa
  • Full NZ driver licence.
  • Some of Equip’s teams provide a 24/7 service, so flexibility is required to work after hours and on weekends.
  • You will need a genuine passion to work with people.
